Food giants, Nestle and Mars, have recently been accused of an alleged criminal conspiracy to fix the prices of their leading chocolate bars in Canada. Competition Commissioner John Pecman, calls the allegations “egregious anti-competitive behavior that harms Canadian consumers” and a potential “serious criminal offence”.

Hmm. Alleged price fixing and anti-competitive behavior calls to mind our onerous Canadian gasoline pricing. Seems that those gas stations have the uncanny ability to price their gas exactly as their competition right down to 1/10 of a cent. Mere random chance of course ….no collusion or anti-competitive behavior here. Where is our Competition Commissioner when it comes to that? I guess he has never heard of the Costco gas bar.
